Round of 256: Division G, Left Side

A lot of heavy hitters are lining up to bid for Division G.   In fact, the lineup looks like it could be an LTD Tournament (best rock song of all time) playlist.  Listen to it here, and vote by commenting below by Monday at 8pm (EST).

#1 Up Around the Bend (CCR) vs. #16 Master of Puppets (Metallica).  Metallica got rocked in its only LTD Tournament appearance, while CCR had one of the better runs of the tournament with “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” and “Fortunate Son.”  Let’s see if those trends continue. Continue reading →

Round of 256: Division E, Right Side Results

3 comfortable wins and 1 nail-biter. High scorer goes to 11 seed “Bad Reputation,” which knocks out 7 seed Gillian Welch’s “Elvis Presley Blues,” 215.1-167.3. Some love scattered about for Welch’s softer entrant, but ultimately Joan Jett brought it big here and showed why she’s considered one of the best female guitarists of all time.

Round of 256: Division F, Right Side

The right side of Division F comes at us like an episode from season 5 of Lost.   That is, you never know which decade you are in.  The 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s (which I’ve recently learned are called the “noughties”) are all represented in today’s matchups.  Fear not dear readers, Living the Dream is your constant.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a contender. Scroll below the fold and you’ll see that “Home” put up monster numbers, the likes of which we’ve seen before in our leading contenders from the LTD Tournament.

#16 Classical Gas (Mason Williams) def. #1 Never Gonna Change (Drive-By Truckers), 227-203.  Another instrumental scoring big.  Though Guillermo noted two nights ago on the podcast that there’s no true upset in this tournament, watching another #1 bite the dust is jarring. Continue reading →
