  3. aiko says:

    7.8 – “Hallelujah” (Jeff Buckley)
    8.3 – “Under Pressure” (Queen)
Under Pressure regained its mojo this round for me. It’s the epic build at the end that usually does it. Hallelujah is beautiful but I think it’ll keep going down on repeated listens in a short period of time.

7 – “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay” (Otis Redding)
10 – “Romeo and Juliet” (Dire Straits)
I really think Romeo and Juliet should win this thing, or at least go to the final 2.

7.8 – “Tiny Dancer” (Elton John)
    10 – “Paradise” (John Prine)

7.6 – “Train in Vain” (The Clash)
5.5 – “In My Life” (The Beatles)

  4. Lindsay says:

    Division E Finals

“Hallelujah” (Jeff Buckley) v. “Under Pressure” (Queen)
    9.5/9.25
Wow I love both of these songs. I thought I’d be tired of them by this point but I’m not. The breath that JB draws at the very beginning of “Hallelujah” never fails to fill me with so much anticipation. The lyrics are incredible every time. Plus I’m listening in my quiet house while my family sleeps and my dog snores at my side and it’s just perfect for this moment.
And yet Under Pressure has been just perfect in a lot of other moments.

    Division F Finals

“Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay” (Otis Redding) v. “Romeo and Juliet” (Dire Straits)
    5/9.3
“Dock of the bay” is starting to wear on me. And a point off for the whistling.
I have a lot of really happy college memories that involve drunkenly singing R&J with various friends. “I love like the stars above, I love you til I die”

    Division G Finals

“Tiny Dancer” (Elton John) v. “Paradise” (John Prine)
    7.5/6

    Division H Finals

“Train in Vain” (The Clash) v. “In My Life” (The Beatles)
    7/6.8

  8. G says:

    6.8 – “Hallelujah” (Jeff Buckley)
    9.8 – “Under Pressure” (Queen)
Concur 100% with Aiko’s assessment. Hallelujah a great song but a tough opener to a playlist, and I kept wanting to skip it today. The minute Under Pressure came on it lifted the mood dramatically.

7.8 – “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay” (Otis Redding)
10 – “Romeo and Juliet” (Dire Straits) Man, this worked today. Was not expecting this score.

9.1 – “Tiny Dancer” (Elton John)
    9.3 – “Paradise” (John Prine)

9.7 – “Train in Vain” (The Clash)
5.0 – “In My Life” (The Beatles) Luke warm on the song and there’s a lot of other Beatle’s songs that I think are better- and then it lost a full point on the weird harpsichord solo.
