Whoops!

We all make mistakes sometimes. Janos and I have been aggressively and retroactively data mining all the scores that have come in through all conduits. Unfortunately, we have discovered two matchups in which there were adding errors and the true winner was not the winner that was posted.

In Division D, the actual score between Rock and Roll Radio and Immigrant Song was 65-63.5, so the Ramones will be advancing.

In Divison E, Tennessee scored 57.5 to Electric Avenue’s 53.5, so Arrested Development will be continuing as well.

We’re glad to have found these errors, but apologies to any hardcore Immigrant Song supporters or Eddy Grant enthusiasts.

LTD Music Tournament: Day 35 Results

Wow. This round of matchups is what makes it all worthwhile. In the last 3 hours, I’ve watched three different matchups float in and out of ties. Fortunately, we finally have our definitive winners in this tough round.

Heroin falls to Ruby Tuesday, 94-85.5. Velvet Underground goes to 2-1 in the Round of 512 with 1 remaining. The Stones, on the other hand, improve to 4-0 with 5 remaining.

Good Vibrations knocks off The Good Life, 89-86.5. For all my blabbering about Pinkerton, Weezer songs from that album go to 0-2. Still some Blue album left to be seen.

Sometimes you have to respect your best competitors, and hats off to the Supremes. You Can’t Hurry Love defeats More Than A Feeling 96-94.5. Between this and the Saints loss yesterday, not a great weekend for my favorites.

Longview over Hungry Like The Wolf, 96-75. Green Day ran away with this one early.

Finally, with a lot of back and forthing and despite Astrid’s strong backing, Jane Says takes Stranded In The Jungle, 85.5-82. New York Dolls finishes up 1-1 in the 512 Round.

Goodbye Duran Duran. And my saddest goodbye- Boston, we barely knew ye’.

Living The Dream Music Tournament: Day 34 Results

Oof. Lotta matchups down to the wire, wasn’t sure how things would shake out til I logged on to do this. Without further adieu….

Thunder Road, 125.5 over Poison Ivy, 80. The Boss goes to 2-2 in the Round of 512 with 3 more songs left to come.

All Along The Watchtower, 134.5 over Up On The Roof, 93.5. Solid, solid score for Hendrix here.

Today Was A Good Day, 105, over Mo Money Mo Problems, 98. This was a nailbiter and oscillated back and forth over the course of the day. In the end, there seemed to be a bigger contingent of people with a particular soft spot for Ice Cube’s South Central ballad than for this Biggie/Diddy/Ma$e collaboration.

New Slang, 107, over Dazed and Confused, 105.5. This was even closer than the aforementioned matchup. Shins advance, Zeppelin loses a soldier.

Night Moves, 118, over Rebellion, 110.5. Seger pulls it out, although the lack of support from some major LTDers is troubling.

Exiting the tournament: The Drifters (although Ben E. King’s reputable solo project is still to come). Farewell, farewell.

Living The Dream Music Tournament: Day 33 Results

Two squeakers here, Violent Femmes and Romantics went down to the wire as well as Pearl Jam and Cream, but the show must go on.

The Weight defeats Someday Never Comes, 128.5-97. That is a ridiculous score. Looks like Robbie and the crew have got a contender here.

Alive gets by White Room, 110-106.

Folsom Prison Blues takes out Man In Me, 120-108.5

Rock & Roll over Uncle John’s Band, 101-81

Come On Eileen over You Took The Words Right Out of My Mouth, 108.5-87. Oh you see what I mean.

I Held Her In My Arms lasts to the fifteenth round and takes out That’s What I Like About You, 98-95.5. TKO. Many props to Orce and his brilliant quote on the true meaning of this Violent Femmes diddy for us well-meaning yet hardscrabble romantics.

Onward. The Romantics enter and exit the tournament- we’ll see the rest of these guys later, they were mostly heavyweights.

Living The Dream Music Tournament: Day 32 Results

Three match-ups with 20+ point differentials, two around 7 to 8. Nothing nail-biting.

Where The Streets Have No Name defeats By The Way (94.5 to 71.5)

I’m A Believer gets past Here Comes My Baby (85 to 78). Still more Cat Stevens to come.

Jack and Diane, which seemed to be a bit of a polarizing song in this round, takes Band On The Run regardless (90.5 to 82).  The Cougar approves.

Over The Hills and Far Away defeated Cottonfields (100.5 to 75)

Suspicious Minds takes Guantanamara (97.5 to 73). Couple voters toasted Wyclef with the haterade and he never recovered.

Stay tuned for statistics on songs and voting trends sometime in the next week, I’m working on something fun. It will probably involve names spread across a normal distribution curve to identify the haters. Fun, right?
