Some legendary songs took the stage on Day 40, and the results were often not close. Unfortunately, I couldn’t upload a picture of Tom Cruise driving singing Free Fallin’.
Layla (Derek and the Dominoes) def. Something in the Air (Thunderclap Newman), 128-98. A powerhouse emerges.
Tangled Up In Blue (Bob Dylan) def. Silent All These Years (Tori Amos), 122-97. Solid effort from Tori, but she’s now out of the tournament. Somewhere out there (in my drawer) there is a copy of the Ryan Quinnelly Band doing this song with me on lead vocals. It’s worth it’s weight in salt.
Blitzkrieg Bop (Ramones) def. Sell Out (Reel Big Fish), 108-104. I thought Reel Big Fish would take this – it had a big lead early.
Heavy Metal Drummer (Wilco) def. Three’s A Magic Number (De La Soul), 103-85.
Free Fallin’ (Tom Petty) def. Just Like Startin’ Over (John Lennon), 125.5-92. Another monster score.
dude, that was only worthy cuz it was souvenir from a rather AWESOME morning sing-along at the helm of a raucous night in denver. sung on the porch impronptu style nonetheless. man we gotta drunk-jam again soon janos!
absolutely man, those were some great times. Colorado 2008 was one of my favorite road trips of all time.
