Living the Dream Music Tournament: Day 6 Results

Buffalo Springfield, you might be surprised to learn, is led by Stephen Stills, of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.  Where did the rest come from? If you’re the first to answer, you win a bonus point.

Day 6 was probably the first time every song did really respectably, even Bette Midler. Scores were very good all-round.  But only five advance.

Whipping Post (Allman Brothers) def. Like a Stone (Audioslave) 93-91.

Lookin Out My Back Door (CCR) def. Wave of Mutilation (Pixies) 103-85.

Alive (Pearl Jam) def. Lounge Act (Nirvana) 95-85.

For What It’s Worth (Buffalo Springfield) def. Let’s Get Together (Youngbloods) 107-96.

One Moment In Time (Whitney Houston) def. From a Distance (Bette Midler) 82-71.

Living the Dream Music Tournament: Day 5 Results

Two match-ups came down to the wire today.   In the battle of old school legends, Tracks of My Tears (Smokey Robinson) and Heartbreak Hotel (Elvis) battled to essentially a tie, forcing me to re-check the numbers.  After a full recount, Elvis triumphed 108-106.5.  Every vote counts, folks.  Sorry, Smokey.

Tied at 74, Feel Good Inc. (Gorillaz) pulled away thanks to decisive calls from Ben Waters and Andy Walton, prevailing over Gangster’s Paradise (Coolio), 102-94.

Australia (Shins) never really got close, going down Last Night (Strokes) 115-94.

Don’t Worry Baby (Beach Boys) took out More Than a Woman (Tavares), 108-78.

Second time was a charm for Radiohead.  Karma Police beat This Time This Year (Defiance Ohio) easily, 113-68.

Shilpa Narayan Wins “Singer of the Month”

Our hearty congratulations to Living the Dream supporter, Shilpa Narayan, who was declared “Singer of the Month” of the Reverend Billy Life After Shopping Choir.  Shilpa was lauded for her kindness, intelligence, and ability to dance like a demon.    Recognition for her vocals will come as no surprise to fans of Kittens Ablaze, where Shilpa sings back-up on both live and studio tracks.
