Round of 256: Division J, Left Side Results

Good Sunday Evening, friends.  I apologize for the tardiness of this post.  I have some results for you finally.  As to my excuse for being late to post tonight, let me just say that a Music Tournament is far less stressful than working to get a guy elected Chief of the Cherokee Nation, which is what I’ve been up to this weekend.

Carole King's Last Stand

Hopefully the People’s Choice Tournament songs will never need recounting.  This weekend, our voters were particularly harsh, posting results that eliminated half of the contenders.

And the results:

(1) One Big Holiday, My Morning Jacket v. (16) Sh-Boom, The Chords:  135.8 to 132.1, My Morning Jacket eliminates The Chords.

(8) My Thief, Elvis Costello v. (9) Try a Little Tenderness, Otis Redding:  Elvis Costello was our lowest performer this evening, with a score of 96.6 to Mr. Redding’s 145.9.  With one loss already to Toots and the Maytals in Division B, Elvis Costello was eliminated tonight by Otis Redding.

(4) Someday, The Strokes v. (13) So Far Away, Carole King:  148.2 to 113.5.  Soundly defeating her only song in the tournament, The Strokes send Carole King “So Far Away,” despite a 10 from Eileen.

(5) Sound and Vision, David Bowie v. (12) Going, Going, Gone, Stars:  Ziggy Stardust defeats Stars tonight:  129.6 to 98.2.  And this is also goodbye to the Stars.

Eliminated tonight:  The Chords, Elvis Costello, Carole King and Stars.
