Reporting live from Town Hall Tavern in College Park- was hoping to send in scores from Bourbon in Adams Morgan, but apparently 16th street is too good for free internet. Fortunately for us, this UMD dive bar is not.
Exciting news- we just hit a new landmark. A total of 19 voters cast scores for this last round, which is the highest in the history of the Living The Dream Music Tournament. Word is definitely getting around. Or we are peer pressuring our friends to vote. One way or the other, the more people casting their opinions, the more legitimacy, so hurrah.
The biggest winner, and as a function of the number of voters the aggregate highest score in the entire tournament so far, was Wagon Wheel defeating Miles Davis and The Cool, 156.5-110. Also notable, Old Crow picked up six distinct 10’s. A new competitor from this millenium has emerged, and has claimed the 1 seed in Division O.
In the battle of the Waffle House jukebox (apparently not ever present in the northeast to Natalie’s chagrin), Wonderful World defeated Unchained Melody, 152.9-142.5. We can look to Janos, Cristina, and Anna Z for the strange scores in the tenths place, which permeate throughout.
Another milestone: the absolute closest defeat occurred in this round. Higher Ground got the photo finish ahead of Losing My Religion, 141.8-141.5.
Magic Carpet Ride sailed right by Last Night, 145.7-135.
Werewolves of London came back strong in the later part of today and overtook Stop In The Name Of Love, 132-125.
Last, Mysterious Ways claimed the largest victory of the day, 139.6-113.3 over It Makes No Difference.
Out of the tournament: Gaslight Anthem, Righteous Brothers, and the Strokes. The Band finishes 2-1, The Supremes 1-2, and REM 1-1.
