Game 7: Anything Goes

Voters- sorry for the delay in posting, but as we’ve discussed earlier, we’d rather have voting live in the work week than over the work weekend. Game 6 saw the elimination of a promising contender, and the forcing of a Game 7 from another.

AC/DC was a worthy contender, but it seems as though Led Zeppelin and Coach Adrock simply can’t be stopped. Zeppelin has now eliminated the following bands in seven game series, all without repeating a single song: Blondie, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, and now the Australian rockers. “Over The Hills And Far Away” defeats “Touch Too Much,” 74.65-52; not one voter gave the nod to AC/DC here. Coach Joe, well done. Zeppelin joins The Beach Boys as they wait for their last Rumble Contender.

“Southbound” by Allman Brothers Band rains all over “Acrobat,” 60.3-42. Same situation here; minus two ties, voters went 100% for ABB. Coach Dan, up against the wall, calls out a big dog. Team Gilbert pulls their cards out too. One last match, and since it’s only a pair of songs we’ll make this vote due Tuesday, May 22nd at 5:00 PM. Vote with your hearts, as the winner will advance. Good luck to both U2 and Allman Brothers Band.

“One Way Out” (Live at Fillmore) (Allman Brothers Band) vs.
“One” (U2)

About g-mo

The day I was born, Michael Jackson's Thriller album was at the top of the Billboard 200. I've been trying my best to live up to that expectation ever since.

“One Way Out” (Live at Fillmore) (Allman Brothers Band) vs. “One” (U2): 7.3 : 8.5
One of U2’s finest, glad I’m not facing it next round.

  3. “One Way Out” (Live at Fillmore) (Allman Brothers Band) 7.5
    “One” (U2) 7.2

I’ve never really been into “One-” still very good, obviously, but Allman hit better this rainy afternoon.

  4. DR says:

8.1 vs. 8.0 — both excellent songs. and while i respect the moving train’s opinion, I do not think it is the best U2 can bring. Was ready to give it the Bono, but not this time

“One Way Out” (Live at Fillmore) (Allman Brothers Band) vs.
    “One” (U2) 7.5 to 7.0
ABB gets the nod for laying out the feeling/emotion on this one. What you’d expect for a game 7 effort. Opposite a very good song but …………………… I chose with the heart on this one.

Duane KILLS it on this song. He Kills it. I’ve said this a billion times, sex sells.

    One (U2) 8.5
This is a beautiful and simple song. I’ve always loved it. I love the stupid simple chord progression, the guitar melody, and solo, the lyrics, and the idea behind them. It’s a great song.

  9. Astrid says:

    One Way Out 6
    One 8
