Votes due by Friday, July 22 at 8 EST.
Day 2 of experimenting commences, bringing with it another form with comments, and built in results (woo!). No more babbling about it though, just vote and comment using the form below. Let us know what you think about this attempt too.
After the reshuffle, Division K coincidently gives us 4 cases of young versus old. The underdog seed in each matchup is from the last decade, while the favored seed is from the days of yore (or in TLC’s case, the 90s). Will the newcomers run from shouts of “get off my lawn!” and cane waving or stick around for the Round of 64? You have 48 hours to decide.
Playlist can be found here, or use our shiny new widget.

A Crazy Game of Poker
#8 Doom Gloom Buttercups from Kittens Ablaze seems like it isn’t in a fair fight here. With an average of 5.56 in the Round of 256, it goes up against #1 Sister Golden Hair from America (or ‘Merica as I seem to have seen on Facebook recently), which had a 7.15 average. I will however remind you that the flaming cats took down Prince last time…

Broken Bell
In another sign that the new seeding system seems to be working, #4 Alabama Song from The Doors and #5 The High Road from Broken Bells look like they will be a very close matchup. Broken Bells might take the high road, but The Doors say “show me the way to the next PCT Round”. We’ll see what happens.
#2 Landslide from Fleetwood Mac took down Cher by a landslide last time. It’s time for #7 Crazy Game of Poker from O.A.R. to go all in if they want to stay in the game.
The last matchup of the division is #3 Creep from TLC vs #6 Pretty Melody from Butch Walker. It’s pretty obvious what Creep is about, but even though Pretty Melody has a nice title, with a lyric like “Bought drinks from you at the bar, poured them out behind my car so I could come back to where you are and order from you again and again”….I think Butch be creepin’…
Just saying….
You can scroll through the current voting results (in a very familiar looking format) directly below the form.
(Please do not submit a blank form to see results. Simply refresh the page to see scores submitted since you first loaded this post. There will be a 5 minute delay between when you submit scores and when they populate below.)
Happy birthday, Danno!
Yes, happy birthday!!
This new voting system is magical! I love it.
And this is what I was thinking about when I heard Pretty Melody. Not really the same at all. Oh well. http://grooveshark.com/s/She/2GndKK?src=5 Hmmmm…
My roommate’s response to Crazy Game of Poker:
great voting scheme. no copying and pasting…and hopefully automatic vote tallying for our fearless leaders.
Scoring system comments- it is sort of a bummer that you can’t see the full comments on iphones anymore, as that is my principal activity to accompany cig breaks at work. also for some reason if you leave the name field blank it doesn’t show up in the results post here (although the scores still stay in the internal sheet.)
Basically this is a lot better than the first experiment. If we can get the text wrapping on the results that would solve the phone thing. TLTD will discuss, please continue adding feedback though- crowd sourcing is good. Happy belated, Danno!
(oh, and this is what I thought of when the Butch Walker song started.)
Ok, now the word “Results” is a hyperlink. If you click it from an iphone (or any browser for that matter) it will give you a separate page with full. scrollable results (in HTML form, not google docs).
Also, FYI, we will soon have a way to actually listen to the Grooveshark widget from iPhones. There’s an iPad app out there that makes it work and the company is working on porting it to iPhone right now.
Let’s talk offline about the blank username thing as there are probably some administrative decisions to be made there.
also just changed the form so they have to enter a username, even if it’s just “anonymous” or a single space. Should make all results visible above.
Happy B-day Mr. A. This works much better for me than the earlier attempt. Also really liked the song selector better than having to go to grooveshark.
Keep smiling.
