To start, everyone keep Clarence Clemons of the E Street Band in your thoughts, as he suffered a serious stroke today. Getting on with results, the people were consistent for the most part with their selections on this side; nothing too close. Big winner here was “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” racking up a
6.85 average and defeating Mavis Staples’ “You Are Not Alone,” 226.1-199.15. Mavis still has her version of “Son Of A Preacherman” coming up down the line.
U2 will match off against Gordon Lightfoot’s folk song “Don Quixote,” which triumphed over Bjork’s “Innocence,” 171.2-148. Some wild swing votes against the Icelandic songstress put this one out of reach very quickly- that said, Lightfoot has a formidable competitor ahead.
There was some muted support for “Gold Dust Woman,” but ultimately the Shel Silverstein penned “A Boy Named Sue” ended up on top, 212.25-178.8. Fleetwood Mac goes to 0-1 with 2 songs still to go this round. Jacob and Orce both give ABNS 10’s, so it goes to the Wall.

Finally, the people seemed to appreciate the Stones cover by Crooked Still, and I’m happy to see some bluesy folk advancing. “You Got The Silver” defeats “Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad,” 181.1-172. Looking at that picture makes me want to date a fiddle player, like maybe that girl in the background that looks pretty and happy. Crooked Still matches off against Johnny Cash next round.
Out of the tournament: Derek and the Dominoes and Bjork.
