  1. Bullet with Butterfly Wings (Smashing Pumpkins) – 7
Ramblin’ Man (Allman Brothers) – 7.5
Great instrumentals on both. I just like the Allman’s voices better. Corgin makes me want to climb a wall with his fingernails on a chalkboard wailing.

Right Now (Van Halen) – 9
Somebody to Love (Jefferson Airplane) – 8
Love the timeless instrumentals on Right Now. My favorite Van Halen song by far, even though I really like Jump. You can have the rest of the eighties, if I can just keep Right Now. Somebody to Love is classic, like the instrumentals, but not quite as moving as Right Now

Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag (James Brown) – 8.5
Young Americans (David Bowie) – 8
More fantastic instrumentals, high energy singing. Tough to choose, James by a nose because this is one of his tighter songs, production-wise.

All Things Must Pass (George Harrison) -8
Solsbury Hill (Peter Gabriel) – 8.5
Cool guitarwork by George. Peter’s vocals are a bit better. Alot of tough calls today!
Peter takes it for overall production. Could have gone either way.

Instant Karma (John Lennon) – 8.5
Fast Car (Tracy Chapman) – 9
So nice. These songs really put me in a good mood. Tracy takes it with her superior vocal delivery.

Now this is the kind of competition I’d been expecting this whole time, I can see why you hyped today up!

The year the Beatles broke up, George Harrison released his own double-album, which became a #1 hit. Looks like someone was being held back by John and Paul.

    Instant Karma (John Lennon) 8.5
    Fast Car (Tracy Chapman) 9.5
    Was super impressed with Tracy.

Getting my votes in late, busy weekend.

Bullet with Butterfly Wings (Smashing Pumpkins) 7.5
    Ramblin’ Man (Allman Brothers) 7

    This surprised me.

    Right Now (Van Halen) 7.5
Somebody to Love (Jefferson Airplane) 6.5

I will always, always associate Right Now with this motivational music video I saw at basketball camp, and the image of Kerri Strug landing that last vault with a fucking sprained ankle in the 96 Olympics, throwing her arms up, and then collapsing. That’s one of my favorite sports moments, which is weird since I know nothing about gymnastics. Somebody to Love, classic for sure, but gotta go with my gut.

Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag (James Brown) 8
    Young Americans (David Bowie) 5.5

    Fun wins.

All Things Must Pass (George Harrison) 5
    Solsbury Hill (Peter Gabriel) 9

my heart was going boom boom boom

    Instant Karma (John Lennon) 5.5
    Fast Car (Tracy Chapman) 7.5

Tracy Chapman dated Alice Walker. That is cool trivia.
