Happy New Years Eve to all! As I wrote yesterday, Guillermo and I will be pregaming and listening to tournament music at East 14th Street- so New Yorkers feel free to come on by. Here’s the Grooveshark link today’s songs. Vote by commenting below or emailing LTDdotorg@gmail.com.
Johnny B. Goode (Chuck Berry) vs. Gimme Some Lovin’ (Spencer Davis Group). Two old school songs to start off Day 27.
Three Little Birds (Bob Marley) vs. Touch of Grey (Grateful Dead). Two optimistic songs to close out 2010.
Sweet Jane (Velvet Underground) vs. The Rising (Bruce Springsteen). Not expected to be close.
Immigrant Song (Led Zeppelin) vs. Do You Remember Rock ‘n Roll Radio (Ramones). Some energy to rock out to on the 31st.
All Apologies (Nirvana) vs. I’ll Be There (Jackson 5). Honorary odd match-up of the day, after the big success of Zeppelin v. Snoop.
Same Boy You’ve Always Known (White Stripes) vs. Mrs. Robinson (Simon and Garfunkel). A classy way to close out a classless year.
Johnny B. Goode (Chuck Berry) 8
Gimme Some Lovin’ (Spencer Davis Group) 7
Mmm… now those are rock songs. Makes me happy to hear. Johnny B Goode is way more listenable though.
Three Little Birds (Bob Marley) 10
Touch of Grey (Grateful Dead) 6
One of the Dead’s more listenable songs, but can’t touch Bob. I’m ALWAYS down to listen to Three Little Birds. Such a great song.
Sweet Jane (Velvet Underground) 5
The Rising (Bruce Springsteen) 6
Man, am I the only one who thinks both these guys are overrated? I burned Velvet Underground’s whole catalog a few years ago, but I just can’t listen to it. People constantly rave about Bruce, but he just doesn’t do it for me.
Immigrant Song (Led Zeppelin) 7.5
Do You Remember Rock ‘n Roll Radio (Ramones) 5
Not Led’s best work. Both cool songs, but you gotta be in the right mood for either one… I’m not.
All Apologies (Nirvana) 8
I’ll Be There (Jackson 5) 5
All Apologies is a better song than I remember. I’ll Be There, not so much. Just a little corny.
Same Boy You’ve Always Known (White Stripes) 5
Mrs. Robinson (Simon and Garfunkel) 8.5
Never heard that one by the White Stripes. Its ok. A little repetitive and simplistic, but I guess thats the point with these guys.
Mrs. Robinson is fantastic.
