Sweet Emotions (Aerosmith) vs. It’s the Same Old Song (Four Topps). This was a last minute substitution for Tubthumping, which I got the sense that you were all gonna hate. Oh well, it’s a fun song. Four Topps deserve a second shot in the tournament though.
Paradise (John Prine) vs. Country Roads (John Denver). For some Biloxians, this is a cruel match-up, but musically it makes sense.

(Trey Anasasio almost ran me over with his Audi and blamed me even though he was driving backwards against the light the wrong way down a one way street that was closed for a street fair. I hope he burns in hell, or worse, that he’s forced to endure one of his own shows).

Paradise (John Prine) 0 vs. Country Roads (John Denver) 10. I like John Prine, but give me a song that has legs like Angel of Montgomery, Sweet Revenge or Illegal Smile. This one is first round cannon fodder.

We can do better. Looking forward to next round, where the real classics that got snubbed get a chance… Only one on this list that is a true classic would be John Denver. Its pretty frustrating watching a kickass song go down to another kickass song only to see an utterly mediocre song beat a terrible song in the same day… Hopefully tomorrow will vindicate us, the participants.
