And here we go again. Much like the current tourney on the channels but two weeks ago, we are starting our Round of 64 of the Living The Dream Music Tournament. I will try to hold off on my extended narratives of the Round of 128 and simply let the music speak for itself. As per the organization of our songs, this is also the semi-finals of Divisions A and B, so winners will advance to the championships of those divisions. As a reminder, the winners of every division will be re-seeded into our Absolute Sweetest Sixteen for the final road to the Living The Dream championship match.
Grooveshark link is here, except for Hey Jude. Vote by commenting on this post or by e-mailing LTDdotorg@gmail.com. Votes are due by 8 pm Eastern Standard Time on Monday, April 4th. May the best song win, and good luck to all.

#3 Creep (Radiohead) 7 vs. #7 All Day And All Of The Night (Kinks) 6
#1 You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones) vs. #4 Such Great Heights (The Postal Service): 6.5/8
How LONG is YCAGWYW? I found that I didn’t have the attention span for it this morning.
#7 The Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) vs. #14 Call Me (Blondie): 4/6
Division B Semi-Finals
#5 Hey Jude (Beatles) vs. #8 Superstition (Stevie Wonder): 6/8.5
I love both of these songs, but Hey Jude feels too long today and it just doesn’t hold up well right after Superstition.
#3 Creep (Radiohead) vs. #7 All Day And All Of The Night (Kinks): 7/8.5
OMG, I think Girl Talk has ruined Creep for me.
#1 You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones) 7.1
#4 Such Great Heights (Postal Service) 7.5
Didn’t see that coming. Sincerely hope there’s a second Stones song out there…
#7 The Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) 5
#14 Call Me (Blondie) 6.8
I think Blondie is nearing its end… but it needs a song to be strong in opposition, because it just has tooo much energy to score poorly.
#5 Hey Jude (Beatles) 6.5
#8 Superstition (Stevie Wonder) 9.7
Was feeling Hey Jude at least a point higher, then the extended nananana ending pissed me off. Why must bands do that? It so rarely helps.
#3 Creep (Radiohead) 8.1
#7 All Day And All Of The Night (Kinks) 6.8
#1 You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones) 8.5
#4 Such Great Heights (Postal Service) 9.3
#7 The Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) 8.7
#14 Call Me (Blondie) 8.1
#5 Hey Jude (Beatles) 9
#8 Superstition (Stevie Wonder) 7
#3 Creep (Radiohead) 9.3
#7 All Day And All Of The Night (Kinks) 10
#1 You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones) 9 vs. #4 Such Great Heights 6
#7 The Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) 8 vs. #14 Call Me (Blondie) 8.5
#5 Hey Jude (Beatles) 10 vs. #8 Superstition (Stevie Wonder) 8
#3 Creep (Radiohead) 7.5 vs. #7 All Day And All Of The Night (Kinks) 7
You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones) 7
Such Great Heights (Postal Service) 7.2
The Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) 7
Call Me (Blondie) 6
Hey Jude (Beatles) 6
Superstition (Stevie Wonder) 7
Creep (Radiohead) 5
All Day And All Of The Night (Kinks) 8
#1 You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones) 7.5
#4 Such Great Heights (Postal Service) 10
#7 The Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) 9.5
#14 Call Me (Blondie) 6.5
#5 Hey Jude (Beatles) 8
#8 Superstition (Stevie Wonder) 9
#3 Creep (Radiohead) 8.5
#7 All Day And All Of The Night (Kinks) 6.5
You Can’t Always Git What You Want (Stones) 8
Such Great Heights (Postal) 6
Sounds of Silence (S&G) 7.5
Call Me (Blondie) 6.5
Hey Jude (Beatles) 6.5
Superstition (Stevie Wonder) 7
Creep (Radiohead) 6.5
All Day And All Of The Night (Kinks) 6.7
#1 You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones) 6
#4 Such Great Heights (Postal Service) 7.5
This result feels wrong somehow and I don’t know why. Maybe Postal Service just feels to young to beat the Stones…regardless, I prefer it.
#7 The Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) 5
#14 Call Me (Blondie) 4
Weird matchup…surprised to see both of these songs here at this stage, especially Call Me. SOS just feels a bit monotonous to me right now but I really don’t feel like Call Me belongs in this company.
#5 Hey Jude (Beatles) 9
#8 Superstition (Stevie Wonder) 6.5
Jude’s singalong-inducing power is enormous. It is a really great song. Superstition is funky fun but I don’t love it.
#3 Creep (Radiohead) 9.5
#7 All Day And All Of The Night (Kinks) 5
I love Creep more and more each time I hear it. I think it’s really powerful. And I LOVE belting it out at karaoke. This Kinks song sounds ancient. Test of time FAIL.
I saw the C/D post first so I voted there and explained this, but I’m changing up my rubric again for this round. I feel like at this point my opinion should be more decisive, and the songs should be well above average. Thus, an average song = 2. Spreads will probably be closer to 4-5 points.
You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Stones) 7
Such Great Heights (Postal) 8
Okay I guess spreads won’t always be big. I keep expecting to be sick of Such Great Heights but it hasn’t happened. But YCAGWYW isn’t that far behind.
Sounds of Silence (S&G) 8.5
Call Me (Blondie) 6
Hey Jude (Beatles) 5
Superstition (Stevie Wonder) 9.5
I am not generally a funk fan, but damn. What a bass line.
Creep (Radiohead) 8
All Day And All Of The Night (Kinks) 2.5
Creep spoke to me when I was 12, and it still gets me 15 years later. A song with that staying power deserves to move on. This Kinks song is fun but fluffy. They have much better.
Okay. My scoring for the rest of the tourney now is:
2= Average
3= Yeah
4= Good
5= Really Good
6= Great
7= Simply Fantastic
8= Exceptional
9= Epic
10= Perfect
#1 You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones) 6.5
#4 Such Great Heights (Postal Service) 4.2
#7 The Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) 8.5
#14 Call Me (Blondie) 7 (if this isn’t “fantastic”, I don’t know what is).
#5 Hey Jude (Beatles) 6.5 [I honestly don’t know if this is a 5 or an 8, so I’m splitting the difference]
#8 Superstition (Stevie Wonder) 3
#3 Creep (Radiohead) 7 [christ, listen to that distortion tone from a .wav file of the original CD on really good speakers (not a computer)–it’s probably the best in rock.]
#7 All Day And All Of The Night (Kinks) 2.3
[adequate for it’s time, but so many better songs have fallen. And the guitar tone… bleh. Other songs from the same era–see most things by Clapton– just blow this away, so it’s not a recording issue. They wanted that sound. And um… the lyrics?]
its time. [grammar]
#1 You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones) 9.1
vs.
#4 Such Great Heights 7.4
#7 The Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) 8.7

THE STONES WERE BORN TO BE ONE SEEDS
I like G’s scoring rubric and totally agree If I don’t alter the scale, the rest of the tourney is going to be a mess of 8.8-9.1’s for me.
2= Average
3= Yeah
4= Good
5= Really Good
6= Great
7= Simply Fantastic
8= Exceptional
9= Epic
10= Perfect
You Can’t Always Get What You Want 5 (This continues to wear on me)
Such Great Heights 5.5 (…but I don’t know if this should win either. It’s a little more than really good I guess)
Sound of Silence 7.8
Call Me 6.7
Creep 5
All Day And All Of The Night 9.2 (you guys probably saw this coming)
Hey Jude 3.5
Superstition 6.5
Call me a bandwaggoner, but G’s scoring rubric works.
1= Meh
2= Okeydoke
3= Alrightythen
4= Smilin’
5= Noddin’
6= Head Bobbin’
7= Toe Tappin’
8= Stand up and Dancin’
9= Throw down the Refrigerator Box and Bust a Movin’
10= Orgasm
You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones) 4
Such Great Heights (Postal Service) 6
Don’t think that SGH is a better song, but it certainly sounded better to me today.
The Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) 3
Call Me (Blondie) 7
Sound of Silence underwhelmed me. Call Me got me pumped.
Hey Jude (Beatles) 4
Superstition (Stevie Wonder) 10
Hey Jude is pretty, but pretty isn’t enough in this round. Superstition is just phenomenal on all levels.
Creep (Radiohead) 2
All Day And All Of The Night (Kinks) 8
Creep did nothing for me. All Day and All of the Night was a great way to start my Monday.
#1 You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones) 7.5

Wow, you sure held a grudge against that talented blind man…
Nothing against Stevie! 🙂
You Can’t Always Git What You Want (Stones) 10
I get the reassessment of scoring in the round of 64, but after 9 hours of continuous hard work, this hit me with a massive warm glow.
